SFHS Honors Veterans

Submitted by deon.youd on

Student at Spanish Fork High School honored America's veterans on November 11, 2014 with a Veterans Day assembly.

The assembly included special musical selections by the SFHS orchestra and band as well as remarks from a local veteran, Jeff Long.

Long served in Afghanistan and talked to students about his experiences there. He showed students entrenchment tools used by the Army from World War I, World War II, the Vietnam era, and today. He pointed out that with each era, the military made changes to the tool for the better.

"We adapt and become better," Long said.

Spooky Times at Fall Spirit Bowl

Submitted by deon.youd on

The Dons scared up some hauntingly good fun at the fall spirit bowl assembly held Friday, October 31. Seniors, juniors, sophomores, and even faculty members competed against each other to win bragging rights and to build school spirit.

The games at this spirit bowl were Halloween themed. Students raced to bob for apples, find gumballs inside pumpkins, and wrap each other like mummies. They also played "spider ball," a version of crab soccer, and an enthusiastic game of musical chairs.

The cheerleaders, drill team, and dance company also performed at the assembly.
