Spanish Fork FFA gave a gift of love to the Festival of Trees held in Sandy Utah. This year our chapter did a tree in memory of Levi Sampson who lost his life in an auto-pedestrian accident this summer. Students donated over 40 pairs of jeans to help with the decorations of the tree. In addition over 40 FFA members spent time making ornaments. There was an activity and classes that helped to put everything together. We would like to thank all of those who made the tree a success.
Our SFHS Singers performed at the American Choral Directors Association Conference on Saturday. SFHS Singers was invited last year after a committee of choral educators from around the state of Utah listened to our state festival recordings. Choral educators from around the state of Utah were in attendance and we were thanked with a standing ovation from the audience! Congrats SFHS Singers and great job representing the Dons.
On November 1st, Seniors from both Spanish Fork High School and Maple Mountain High School had the opportunity to go on "College Tours." Seniors could choose to attend BYU/UVU, Utah State University, Snow College, University of Utah, MTECH Campuses, or USU Eastern. Representatives of the Colleges were there to greet the students, give them a personalized tour, and provide the students with information about their respective colleges. It was a great opportunity for students to visit a college campus and learn more about their post-secondary education options.
Spanish Fork FFA finished a great year with the school garden program. This was our second year selling produce at the Spanish Fork Farmers Market. In total 7 students worked throughout the summer in the garden here at the school, taking care of the plants, harvesting, and selling produce. This year we grew 250 tomato plants, 75 pepper plants, 30 melon plants, and various squash plants. Our harvest was great this year, in total we harvested over 3,150 pounds of tomatoes, 50 melons, and countless squash and peppers!
