Spanish Fork High School held their annual Athletic Awards Assembly on May 20th, 2011. Several students were recognized for their significant participation and successful performance in SFHS athletics. Special congratulations to Travis Still and Jennifer Huntsman, our 2010-2011 “Outstanding Athletes.”
The Boy's Soccer Team ended their season with the most exciting game of the whole season. The Dons squared off against the Salem Skyhawks last Thursday, on their home field, under the lights of the football stadium. The crowd was impressive, loud and so enthusiastic. “ They really helped us play to our full potential,” said Matt Stevens. Salem jumped to the lead early with an own goal, but the Dons quickly answered with a deadly shot by Golden Money. The game continued, and possession changed hands many times.
Spanish Fork High School’s choirs performed their Spring Concert on May 18. The concert included songs from U2, Ben Folds, Journey, The Beetles, and many other popular pop and rock bands. Every year, the spring choir concert at Spanish Fork High features a more popular style of music included with fun costumes and choreography. A show band made up of Golden Money, Brandon Levitt, Austin Lindley, and Dallin Ficklinhelped bring in the mood with the live music right on stage. Choir members who received superiors in State Festival were also recognized at the beginning of the show.
State Solo/Ensemble was held on April 30th, 2011 at Lone Peak High School. Those that performed and were adjudicated were Bonnie Miller, Randi Miller, Morgan Hansen, Jessica Christley, Jacob Warner and a small mixed ensemble. The scores go as follows: l, l-, ll+, ll, ll-, etc. A l is equivalent to a superior rating, a ll to an excellent rating and so on and so forth.
