Stomp Out Hunger

In 2008, 49.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, 32.4 million adults and 16.7 million children lived without food in their homes. These days families don’t have enough money to buy food for their families so they go without. Spanish Fork FFA didn’t like those statistics and wanted to do something about it so they held a food drive on Friday, Nov. 19th. In order to get the High School students better involved in the school food drive, the FFA made it into a competition between the B2 classes. Whichever class won received a breakfast provided by the FFA and the teacher got a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. Then Friday night they held a multi- high school stomp entitled “Stomp out Hunger” and invited local high schools such as Payson, Salem, and Maple Mountain. Any high school student would be able to attend and the cost was either $5 per person or 5 cans of food to donate to a local food bank. That night the FFA was able to collect over 2,000 pounds of food to assist those in need, and delivered it Monday during their officer leadership class to the local food bank in Provo.
