KEN GARFF KEYS TO SUCCESS ASSEMBLY Was Held at SFHS
The gym erupted with noise as students jumped to
their feet cheering for one of their now-envied classmate.
Spanish Fork High School has been working with the Ken
Garff Keys to Success program for the past seven years,
and each year one lucky student gets the chance to win the
grand prize. Throughout the year students are given the
opportunity to earn Key Cards for goals that they set with
their teacher or for academic achievement. Each key card
can be redeemed online for a ton of different prizes.
Finally, at the end of the year, the school has a massive
drawing and 50 students get the chance to be in the Keys
to Success assembly. This year the grand prize was a brand
new iPad! Out of the 50 students whose key cards were
drawn, five got the chance to turn a key and sound the
alarm that signals victory. This year the five finalists
were Leslie Beck, Benson Wood, Kyle Hutchings, Kelton
Davis, and Morgan Gasser. The first four to turn their key
were unsuccessful which left Kyle Hutchings with what
everyone assumed to be the winning key. As he walked up to
try his key, students in the crowd slowly began to cheer.
As soon as the alarm sounded the students erupted into
applause and Kyle was showered in confetti, holding onto
his new iPad. Kyle will get the opportunity to represent
Spanish Fork High in the upcoming drawing for a brand new
2012 Fiat 500. Good luck Kyle!
Ken Garff also sponsors scholarships in conjunction with Utah Valley University. Zack Bate was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Utah Valley University with a matching $1,000 from Utah Community Credit Union. Colby Baum was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for Math, Science, and Engineering to Utah Valley University from the U.S. Synthetic Bill J. Pope Scholarship.
