SFHS's 6th annual Homeless for a Night is coming up on Friday March 4, 2016. Students can register for the event in the finance office.
Homeless for a Night (HFAN) is an all-night fundraising activity where students give up the comforts of home for one night to raise money for Tabitha's Way, a food pantry in Spanish Fork. HFAN also helps students learn empathy for those who have less by asking them to go without sleep and some of the things they are used to having at home.
HFAN has a long-standing tradition of fun, and this year will be no different. Events will include a concert by Utah's own Foreign Figures, a dance, a basketball tournament, karaoke, and a lot more. Thanks to our local business sponsors, we will have tons of food and fun for everyone.
The cost is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Students must have a signed parental consent form in order to attend. Any student wishing to leave before 4 am must have a signed note from a parent and must submit that note upon check-in the night of the event. Adult volunteers will be on hand throughout the night to assist participants and provide security for the event. Homeless for Night is open to all high school students grades 10-12. Registration is available at all high school finance offices in Nebo School District. Priority is given to Spanish Fork High School students.
Last year, more than 900 high school students attended HFAN raising more than $14,000 for Tabitha's Way.
Parent seeking more information or who wish to volunteer as a chaperone for HFAN can contact Deon Youd at deon.youd [at] nebo.edu.
