Dawn Davis speaking to SFHS marketing students

Students in Mrs. Jacobson's Marketing class had the opportunity to learn how quality marketing can impact an organization's bottom line.  Dawn Davis, Marketing Director for Gunnerson Dental of Payson, took time to share her knowledge of marketing as she helped students learn how to create marketing campaigns to achieve results.  Students were impressed as Dawn explained how putting their customers first is actually a critical component of marketing--it's really all about customers having positive and successful experiences.  Marketing student Jade Delaney said, "Dawn Davis is an incredibly real person. It didn't seem like she was trying too hard and she had a genuine interest in actually teaching us stuff. We were able to have a good discussion and I felt that her presentation was valuable and will benefit me later in life."  SFHS Marketing students want to send a shout-out to Dawn Davis and her team at Gunnerson Dental for their support of our SFHS Business Program.

We Searched the World to find Mr. Spanish Fork, and it did not disappoint.  The night started with the swimsuit competition. Sawyer Hamilton walked out with some sass and Tanner Parker's flippers and goggles really added to his ensemble.

We were then blessed to see the talents of some of Spanish Fork High School's finest. Who knew Emo Apaui could dance like that? Solofa Funa's Rap Battle against Tanner Parker was epic and I think Dirk Wilkins may have proposed to Amanda that night during his talent portion. Somebody poured beans on Jacob Warnock's pizza and Tanner Davies and Maikeli Fonohema showed a little leg in their rendition of "Ice Ice Baby."

Next, the boys cleaned up nice in the formal wear and question portion of the night. We got to hear that Daniel Camacaro would be Iron Man if he could, and Tyler Pratt would kiss Mr. Ferrin. Everyone was on pins and needles waiting for the results.

Congratulations to Emo Apaui-Mr. Spanish Fork and his attendants: 1st-Tyler Pratt, 2nd-Solofa Funa, and 3rd-Tanner Parker. It was such a fun night and we want to give a shout out to all the contestants. You guys were awesome.

Our 4th annual Recycle and Re-Design Fashion Show competition is this Wednesday, April 27th at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Our students create amazing outfits using ONLY recycled materials and their models strut them down the runway that evening. It's quite amazing the see the things they come up with!

Luke Isley has also created a design and you'll be amazed at how talented he is; we think he secretly was a fashion designer in another life, ha!

Mr. McKee and Mrs. Ford will be judging - Mr. McKee has quite an eye for fashion as well, don't let him fool you. I think we would all agree that Mrs. Ford's fashion is "on point." :)

Please join us that evening, entrance is $5/person or $20/family (immediate).

SFHS Business and Marketing students were treated with the opportunity to experience a sales demonstration by Kurt Hoerner, a sales representative from the Mercedes-Benz of Lindon dealership. Watching a veteran of sales (30+ years) demo a brand new 2016 C450 AMG Mercedes-Benz Sedan was definitely a treat and a learning experience.  Feedback from students indicated they were very impressed by how well Mr. Hoerner knew his product. Not only did he know every feature and benefit of his own product, he was also incredibly knowledgeable about the products of his competitors--something students have discovered is an important trait of successful sales professionals.  A special thanks to the Lindon Mercedes-Benz dealership for their willingness to support our Business program here at SFHS.

Trikefest is this Saturday, April 23, at the SF Fairgrounds from 9am-5pm. This is a fun event to see, and be seen. There will be some pretty heavy hitters as far as sponsors this year. Two that the students will recognize are Nitro Circus and DieselSellerz, beyond them there are at least 20 other vendors/sponsors who will be giving away prizes to the contestants. There will be employers on site to recruit people to enter the field of welding, along with the the Local 27 and the Local 140 looking for people to enter apprenticeship programs.

There will be food trucks on site along with a lot of fabricated welding projects from local talent. During the event there will be a motorized drift trike race where at least 10 high schools will be represented from around the state of Utah. Come out this Saturday and support all of our amazing welding student! See you there!
