Ammy Trujillo, Amy Gomez, Katie Morris, and Maria Diaz were four students chosen to represent our school at a Business Language Competition at BYU on Friday, February 24. The girls had only a few days to prepare a presentation of their marketing plan…all in Spanish. They made a poster, a PowerPoint and wrote up a report which they presented in front of two groups of three judges.
The whole competition was in Spanish, and the teams were required to have at least one non-native Spanish speaker. Katie Morris, who is in Sr. Rogers’s Spanish 2 class, was the non-native speaker on this team. She said, “I could only understand about 50% of what the judges were saying, but it was definitely a learning experience, and it was totally worth it.”
The girls had a great experience and received 4th place, and sophomores Ammy Trujillo and Amy Gomez are planning to compete again next year. Fantastic job representing Spanish Fork so well!
Members of the Spanish Fork FFA were invited to participate in the UACTE Day on the Hill on February 15th as representatives of agriculture students around the state. Students constructed boutonnieres and corsages, and met with many state legislators to thank them for their support of CTE classes and our CTSO programs. Students were fortunate enough to have State Senator Hinkins and State Representative Morley join them in the rotunda to discuss how their involvement in these programs was making an impact on their lives.
Recently some members of the Spanish Fork High School PTSA (Parent
Teacher Students Association) came to Brockbank. PTSA is a club that
helps students get involved in their community by performing services.
For one of their service projects they came to Brockbank and
interacted with first-graders. The first-graders really enjoyed
spending time and connecting with these students. Out of the 23
members that came 13 of them attended elementary school at Brockbank.
It was fun to see these students come back to Brockbank!
