Spanish Fork High School UCBT Students Are on the Job

Spanish Fork High School’s Utah Community Based Transition students have had the opportunity to get on the job training with several community businesses and organizations, including Outer Beauty, Hollywood Video, Spanish Fork Ambulance, East Meadows Elementary, Brockbank Elementary, Larson Elementary, Magleby’s, One Man Band, Jaxies, and Joannes. They do things like bus tables, be teacher’s aides, and clean, wash towels, put videos back, and lots of other helpful jobs. Each of the students has two Job sites that they work at. “The kids are doing a great job.

SF Band Plays On!

Spanish Fork’s Marching Band has been competing in several competitions so far this year, and attended the Mt. Timpanogos Competition on October 24th in which Mr. Smith, the band teacher at the high school said, “They did reasonably well. The judges generally liked their performance.” Lori Swain, the student drum major, said, “It’s a challenge, but it’s very rewarding. It’s very cool to see all the hard work come out and turn into something amazing, and to see how everyone works together to succeed.” November 6th and 7th the Marching Band played at Red Rocks Competition.

SFHS Presents: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Spanish Fork High School’s Drama and Choir Departments are presenting their school musical of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The performances are November 12-14 and 16 starting at 7 pm. Many students are involved with the show including one student who is twelve years old as Chip. The students have been working to get the show ready since the beginning of September and are winding down for their final performances. Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets for children under 10 are $3 and for a family of at least 5 is $20.

SFHS Biologists Bake Cake

At SFHS, Biology teacher Layne Shepherd gave his students a special opportunity to learn more about the parts of cells. Students could choose to make an edible model of a cell and label each of the parts. Students Makayla Michelsen and Shaylee Archibald accepted this challenge and together made a model of an animal cell out of chocolate cake, with the parts made out of candy and pumpkin seeds. “It had to be edible and a cake can hold a lot of things,” said Makayla and Shaylee about why they chose to make their model the way they did.

Spanish Fork High School Students Hail Halloween

Spanish Fork High School still has spirit! Traces of Halloween roam the hallways. There has been a mass variety of costumes such as Buddy the Elf, Hello Kitty, a dairy cow, and something as simple as a fairy. There was a competition held for the best costumes where people were awarded for funniest, scariest, most original, and best couple costumes. Those students who dressed up were highly favored for their tasteful and appropriate ways of dressing. Not only did the students have spirit, but the teachers did as well.
