The Fine Arts Department at Spanish Fork High School had the opportunity to perform many different acts for the school on Dec 22, 2009. They announced the new Sterling Scholars for 2010. The winners were Kayla Christensen, Kristie Stoneman, Logan Wells, Dallin Parkinson, Carolina Parodi, Chaleesa Warren, Amberly Larson, Mackenzi Berns, Katie Cable, Emily McKinney, Rebecca Greene, and Kambrielle Shenk. The Masque Club Presidency were the emcess for the assembly: Katie Cable, Bethany Hutchison, Hannah Carson, Jared John Tuckett, Kyle Crotts, and Matt Cole.

Intern Enjoys Work at Preschool and Orthodontist

The intern spotlight for this week is Tiffany Binks, who interns at Oakview Preschool. Binks spends her time at the internship helping teach the kids, playing games with them, and keeping them under control. She enjoys it a lot. “I love it! It’s a lot of fun,” said Binks about her internship. She isn’t sure what she wants to do for a future career, but is exploring a bunch of different options in preparation for her life. Binks also interns at DDS Miner orthodontist.

SFHS Extends Learning during Career Day

On December 22, Spanish Fork High School had the opportunity to have a career day. Adults specializing in a variety of fields came and spoke to the students about their careers. Hannah Carson, a Junior at SFHS, enjoyed the experience. “I would say that career day was an excellent experience for us. I enjoyed learning new things about possible careers that I could have,” said Carson. “It definitely expanded my horizons.” Speakers ranged from Choir majors to UDOT project managers, as well as science, medical, and business fields. Career day was a great experience for students.

SFHS Presents Macbeth

The Spanish Fork High School Drama Department is presenting their annual full length Shakespeare play of Macbeth on January 8, and 9, 2010. The show will start at 7:00 P.M. and tickets are $3. The show is being performed by the school’s Shakespeare Team that competed last October at the Shakespearian Festival in Cedar City. The members of the team performing are Katie Cable, Bethany Hutchison, Jared John Tuckett, Hannah Carson, Kyle Crotts, Matt Cole, Jamieson Butte, Caitlin Banks, Jen Grzybowski, and Madison Hall.

Christmas Cocoa and Snowflakes Are Some of the Holiday Activities at SFHS

On Wednesday, December 16th, the Student Council at SFHS held a lunchtime snowflake activity to increase school unity and spread Christmas cheer. Students were able to enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows while cutting out paper snowflakes while cutting out paper snowflakes to liven up the school. Bethany Hutchison, one of the students who participated in this activity, said, “The chocolate was superb! It was the best school chocolate I’ve ever had.
