It is now that time of year where Spanish Fork High School starts preparation for next year. As part of this, new Student Body Officers must be elected! Hopeful participants at Spanish Fork began putting up signs, handing out memorabilia, and hoping their name would be called at election time. Many ran; and after the first round was narrowed down to 12, they were called together in the library hoping they made the final eight. “It was a lot of fun. We were all in the library eating pizza, watching the nervous laughs of the hopeful future S.B.O’s,” said Max Johnson, a current S.B.O.

This week for many seniors is one of the funnest weeks of high school- except for the last week of school, which seniors don’t have to go to. But this week was senior week. A week in which seniors got to enjoy many fun activities. The biggest activity of them all without a doubt was prom on Saturday. Love a senior day was held on Monday and many seniors enjoyed this day because who doesn’t love to be loved. Tuesday was dress up like a senior citizen day. Many students went all out with this one. On Thursday, it was nacho fiesta day. Everyone in the whole school was invited to this activity.

SFHS National Honor Society Continues to Give

With a collection of personal hygiene products and home-made baby blankets, the Spanish Fork High School’s National Honor Society recently delivered the items to the Distribution Center Youth Justice Center and United Way. A few of their previous service projects had the members of the club make baby blankets, book marks, and cards to give to people within the community. The hygiene products were collected around Spanish Fork High School to give to people within the community for the survivors of the Haiti/Chile earthquakes and for less fortunate people of Utah Valley.

Skills USA team members went to the competition this last week. There were many that traveled there and did well. Some of the students that did really well up there were Chet Harmer and Shon Tomadakis. Chet Harmer placed 3rd in Automotive Dent Repair and Shon Tomadakis placed 2nd in Automotive Refinishing. Those who competed in the Automotive Dent Repair had to write an estimate, fix and repair dents, and repair plastic bumbers. The competitiors in the Automotive Refinishing had to mask off a car, write an estimate for a wrecked car, and paint a panel.
