By Shideler Bennett, Glade Johnson This season, (Super Star) Courtney Acosta broke the record for most goals in a season with a whopping 13 goals. The previous record was 11. Courtney said, “I knew about the record but wasn’t trying to break it; it just happened.” She had some help from Shandy and Cassidy, who did a great job punching the ball up the field. “I didn’t know I had beaten the record until our game with Salem Hills at the end of the season,” said Courtney. Courtney is a very dedicated soccer player; she practices about 3 hours a day outside of actual soccer practice.

Brooke Kramer Interns for Oak Ridge and Larsen Schools

Brooke Kramer, a student at Spanish fork High School, is interning at Oak Ridge Elementary and Larsen Elementary. She has been working with the special needs kids as well as resource students helping them read and learn just like everyone else.  Brooke was asked a few questions about herself and her internship, and this is what she said, “I love interning at the elementary schools. I love working with kids and helping them succeed.

Swim Team Swim Laps for Fundraiser

The Spanish Fork High Swim team held their annual swimathon fundraising. There were some who did not get pledges, but still participated in the swimathon. The brave souls got in the water for a midnight swim. They went to Springville pool to swim 200 laps (5,000 yards) to raise money for their swim season. Tanner Greenwood was one swimmer who raised close to $400.00 for his team. He said ,“It was awesome to see all the parents, family, friends, and fellow students supporting our team. I would do it again in a heart beat.

“I Am Spanish Fork High School” Produced in Broadcasting

The Spanish Fork High School‘s TV Broadcasting classes are working on their “I Am Spanish Fork High School” film project. Their goal is to choose a teacher or student that shows leadership and interview them and how they are SFHS. Allison Swain is going to do her project on Mrs. Wendi Nelson. Alli and her group is going to show how Mrs. Nelson is a coach, teacher, mom, and that she is Spanish Fork High School! These projects will be on the school website in about a month, and will show that our school is quite outstanding.

Dons shuttle up to Bountiful to support team

Spanish Fork High School students initiated a trip to the Bountiful game on their own, igniting school spirit amongst the Dons. The Dons had enough volition to organize an entire trip simply in order to support their team at its next game, showing pride and strength in their school’s spirit. It started with just a few students talking in the halls about how the school should go support our team at their big game in Bountiful. Annie Darling heard this and decided to get the ball rolling by heading into the office and discussing this idea with the Principal McKee.
