Spanish Fork Choir Sings at Utah Flash Game

Spanish Fork High School concert choir had the great opportunity to sing the national anthem preceeding the Utah Flash game at Utah Valley University. In front of hundreds, the Choir raised their voices and successfully ignited a fun night of basketball. The Utah Flash is a minor league basketball team who invited the SFHS Choir to be a part of their game to help with fund raising for the upcoming tour in Anaheim, California. For an extra treat, the Choir was able to run on the court with the team.

SFHS ProStart Program Gears Up

Wednesday, January 13, Spanish Fork High School had a pre ProStart competition. They chose a team that will represent their high school at a state cooking competition. The students are limited to two buson burners and no electricity at the competition. Casey Shakespeare, Sarah Nelson, Mathew Christiansen, and Anjuli Humphreys will be representing SFHS at the State Competition. Miss Larsen has high hopes that the team will win both 1st place and Best New Team. If they take 1st place, they will go onto Nationals.

Spanish Fork High School Displays Student’s Work at the Fine Arts Ball

Spanish Fork Royalty for 2009 is throwing a Fine Arts Ball on Thursday January 21st at the Chillion here in Spanish Fork. To help support Spanish Fork High School’s Fine Arts department all the money raised at the ball will be going to the high school’s art program. Students: Taleah Belliston, Chris Brown, Emily McKinney, Stefanie Muhlestein, Ali Skrabot, Megan August will be displaying their paintings at the ball to show people some of the talent at SFHS.

Intern Enjoys work at Department of Agriculture

The intern highlight of this week is Chaleesa Warren, who interns at the US Department of Agriculture. Her jobs while she works there include filing papers, organizing drawers, sorting mail, copying and faxing papers, and sending letters. Warren enjoys her internship. She is considering becoming an agriculture teacher in the future. “Working anywhere related to agriculture will help me with these plans,” said Warren. She learns a lot at her internship.

SFHS Spill on Drill

The SFHS Drill Team just finished competing at a state wide competition with all 4A schools at Alta High School earlier in January. They competed in four events: kick, military, dance, and hip-hop. They took 1st place in hip-hop, 2nd place in dance, 3rd place in kick, and 4th place in military. They will be going to region at Maple Mountain High School on January 21st and then state at UVU on January 29th. Whitney Nielson, a junior on the drill team said, “We’ve all worked really hard as a team to have good results. We hope to do well at region and state!”
