FFA had some students with awesome success. The proficiency award program recognizes students for the skills they have developed through their Supervised Agriculture Experience (where they take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in a real world setting). On January, 10 of our students were named Area Winners (our version of region). These students then moved on to the state competition which was held February 9.

We were fortunate enough to have 8/10 students that were named state winners and will now move on to Nationals. The others all placed second. This is 20% of the total winners from the state!  This is a pretty awesome accomplishment for our students. Kyle Clark: Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication, Chase Holt: Agricultural Sales, Porter Olsen: Agriscience Animal Research, Zackery Prior: Dairy Production, Stran Sorensen: Diversified Agriculture, Kacie Jones: Diversified Horticulture, Tanner Voorhees: Sheep Production, and Kalley Stubbs: Vegetable Production.

In addition, students competed for a top spot in the Star Category. Four finalists are named throughout the state and will compete at State Convention. Congratulations to Porter Olsen, Star in Agriscience Finalist and Russell Mangelson, Star Greenhand in Production and Star Greenhand in Agribusiness. These students will be rewarded and compete at the State FFA Convention coming up March 13-15 in Logan. Way to go FFA!! You are ROCK SOLID!!
