Softball 4A State Champions

On May 27, 2011 the Spanish Fork High School softball team started their summer off right by winning the 4A state championship. Not only did they win, but after losing their first game at the Valley Complex in Taylorsville, they battled back through the losers bracket.  That loss didn’t get the Lady Dons down.  Coming back the next day, they faced their rival, Salem Hills.  After beating the Skyhawks with a score of 9-4, and the Uintah Utes 4-1, Spanish Fork felt great about knocking out two of their region opponents. The girls didn’t stop there.  The next day, they set out seeking sweet revenge on Mountain Crest and Tooele.  With the girls coming out on fire with their unstoppable bats and spectacular defense, they sent the Mustangs home with a 7-2 victory, putting them in the championship game. After a heart breaker the year before, losing to Tooele in the Championship game, they weren’t going to let it happen again.  Spanish Fork came out on top in the first game with a score of 10-5, one game closer to winning the trophy.  Kailey Christensen, still going strong after pitching eight tournament games, was a key factor in avenging the Buffaloes.  The final game of the 4A State Tournament kept the fans on their toes with The Spanish Fork Lady Dons bringing home the trophy after a 6-5 game. The girls softball team is excited to start new in a different region as a 3A team this year.  Good luck Lady Dons!
