The 2011-2012 SFHS Swim Team has been very successful this year.  They have competed at many meets, but this past weekend the swim team had a chance to compete in their annual region swim meet in Richfield to compete for the region title and to get qualified for the state swim meet, which is exactly what they did.  At the end of the meet, the Spanish Fork and Emery boy’s teams had a tied score of 270, making us both the region winners.  The girls placed 3rd overall out of 5 teams which was sensational.  In all of Spanish Fork High Schools past years, this is the first year that the swim team has ever won region.  Let’s just say that the coaches were very happy and ended up getting thrown in the water by all of the swimmers.  Overall, 7 of the 25 or so swimmers ended up qualifying for the state meet including: Colton Christensen in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Adam Hunter in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Chet Oxborrow in the 200IM and 100 breaststroke, Jace Parkinson in the 100 butterfly, Emily Windsor in the 100 freestyle, Natalie Parkinson in the 100 butterfly, and Amber Dowling in the 200IM. The boys and girls 200 Medley relays both qualified and the boys 200 and 400 freestyle relays also qualified.  The state meet will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th at BYU.
