On January 21st Nebo School District held a first ever district wide welding competition at Spanish Fork High School.  This event took place for all the elite welders in the welding programs and there were 15 total participants at the competition--three from each school.  Each student was presented with the same challenges and was judged on their performances by local certified welding inspectors.  Many local companies help support and donate prizes for the contestants.  This particular event determined who would represent each school at the state level Skills USA Competition that will take place in March.  Spanish Fork High ended up sweeping the top three positions; Wes Osborn took 1st, Cody Cornaby took 2nd, and Dillon Shepherd tied for 3rd.; our alternate competitor, Shane Laird, took the 8th position.  All top three contenders won auto-darkening welding helmets, cover-ups, and other useful welding prizes.  Spanish Fork High School won the overall competition and will be able to proudly display the aspired traveling trophy for the next year to come.  I would like to personally acknowledge all the students on a very competitive meeting and congratulate each of my students on a job very well done!
