In a exciting region finish, our girls tennis team showed their skill with success coming from the whole team this season. In all, the team finished tied for third after region play. This is a great feat considering the tough region we play. Our Lady Dons went 3-3 during region, defeating Payson, Salem and Uintah, and falling to Maple Mountain, Springville and Wasatch. The girls proved to capitalize on some home court advantage for the region tournament and had great qualification for state this weekend.

In review, Coach Blake Johnson said, “We played great in our team tournaments. Had a few hiccups in region play, but overall, played well.” Coach Johnson proved to have a big impact on the successes this year. The Dons are led by some great senior experience with 5 of the 7 members on the Varsity squad graduating this spring. One senior tennis player, Tessa Christensen mentioned, “My favorite part of the season was going down and playing really well in St. George. We had a lot of fun.”

Overall, the success in region play is a great response to Coach Johnson’s goal to, “Always try to get the whole team to state.” In this case, the team answered very respectively. The Lady Dons, led by captains Ali Damon, and Alisun Vehar, made their school proud this year. As they head off to state this weekend, we wish them the best of luck.
