On Monday January 24, 2011, the Spanish Fork High School Book Club held a Mock Hunger Games activity after school. After reading the book series of the same name, the Book Club conceived their own version of the Hunger Games. The “Games” were a combination of fun and competitive activities from hop-scotch and sword fights to blowing up balloons and Twister. Each player faced different obstacles, wherein they would battle for the win in the last and final test – a game of Twister. The winner of the 2011 Mock Hunger Games was Paige [Insert Last Name]. As the trials of the games went on, the Spanish Fork High School Liberian, Mrs. Gardner, brought healthy treats for the competitors to snack as they fought each other for the final win. Everyone had a great time, although they were disappointed that some of their members couldn’t join them in their fun. Of all that participated in the Mock Hunger Games, each hopes to do it again next year. Most would say, as Tyler Christensen, the Hula-Hoop Master of the evening, said, “It was a blast!”
