Science Students Envision the Future

Members of the Spanish Fork High School HOSA organization got a glimpse of their potential future during their October field trip to Apple Valley Vision in Payson on October 22.

HOSA is a national and state organization for students who want to pursue future medical careers. Once a month, the group visits a medical professional to learn about that type of career and observe the science in action.

"The goal is to have students have as many opportunities in medical careers to help them decide for their own future college goals and pursuits," said Brad Warren, HOSA club adviser.

At Apple Valley Vision, students got to experiment with instruments that scan their retinas. They also got to see other tools.

"The students love to get out of the classroom and see science in the real application of different professions," said Warren.

Spanish Fork has about 50 students in the HOSA club. They will visit Mountain View Hospital in November.
