Red Ribbon Week Celebrated at SFHS

During “Red Ribbon Week” Spanish Fork High Students got a view of a few lives affected by drugs. Film producer, Ron Williams, known for his dramatic documentary, Happy Valley, a film showing the affect of drug addictions in the Utah County, spoke about his wife who got started on prescription drugs, and then left her life to chase illegal drugs. He also came with a guest from the documentary that was addicted to drugs and had her friend over-dose. They both urged students to avoid any addictions and to stay away from substances that can take over your life. Later in the week, students were given “drunk goggles”, goggles that simulated the affects of alcohol. Students quickly learned that you can barely walk down the hall drunk, let alone drive. Other activities included red ribbons decorating the doors, cards handed out to students, and red wrist bands to remind students of the importance of staying drug free.
