A Patriotic Veteran’s Day Was Held at Spanish Fork High School

Spanish Fork High School honored the heroes of our country on Veteran’s Day with an inspirational assembly. It started off with a patriotic line-up of our Country’s flag to lead the student body into the auditorium, and then SFHS’s Choir sang the National Anthem. It continued with Spanish Fork’s own Combat Engineer veteran, Lucas Isley. Mr. Isley’s thoughts as he prepared for the assembly were that he wanted to speak about more than just what he did as a soldier. He hoped to spread awareness of all the past wars and to give a challenge to those listening: access our veterans and ask a family member or loved one about the war they served in. Mr. Isley pointed out how proud he was to have a family member serve in every war since our country was born. Mr. Isley also served at war in 2003-2004 in Baghdad. He told personal stories and did an outstanding job. Students were grateful and honored to have him speak and tell us his amazing experiences. Veteran’s Day is a time to make an effort to more than just honor those who laid awake guarding at night so that America could sleep in peace.
