OUR DREAM

Every morning at 6 am a line of red roller suitcase bags follow 21 dedicated girls into Spanish Fork High School. Who are these girls some may ask? Where are the going? What are they doing? Why do they…the answer is simple. They are the Las Chalitas Drill Team. What are they doing, they are putting their whole heart on the dance floor. Why…why does any athlete give all that they have, dedicate their time, live for the team because they are living their dream. And for these 21 girls, their dream is to Dance. The Las Chalitas have been working hard all year. They have been supporting their school athletic teams, providing school spirit and now their season have arrived, Drill Team Competitions. The drill team has just participated in 2 competitions this past few weeks. The first at Alta High School and just this last Saturday at The Murray Classic. They competed in several different categories including military, hip-hop, dance and kick. The Las Chalitas have placed very well at these competitions and have been awarded 2nd & 3rd place in Dance, 3rd and 4th place in kick, 4th place in military and 2nd and 5th place in hip hop. The drill team was awarded the prestigious Judges Choice Award for Best Choreography for their dance routine at the Alta competition. Competing against over 300 drill dancers, Leslie Beck took 5th place in the 4A Drill down. They were also thrilled with receiving 2nd place in the 4A overall at the Murray Classic. On Wednesday January 19th was Drill Team Entertainment night, where many local dance studios performed along with our Las Chalitas Drill Team. The drill team performed their competition routines and was escorted onto the dance floor by their fathers to be honored for their terrific 2010-2011 Drill year. Great job to everyone who performed. The Las Chalitas are preparing for Region and State Drill. This year they will host Region at their home dance floor. It will be held on January 27th in the SFHS main gym. We invite all Las Chalita fans to come support the drill team. State Drill will then be held at UVU on February 4th. The Girls would like to thank their dedicated coaches, Michele Boyack and Joni Holmes. They would also like to tell their parents, families, amazing sponsors and fans thank you and let them know how much they appreciate all their love and support. Go Las Chalitas Drill Team.
