Lady Dons Win Critical Basketball Game

The Spanish Fork Lady Dons hosted the Uintah Utes on Tuesday, January 25th looking for their first region win, and they got it. Junior Jessica Cable came out big off the bench scoring 13 points, leading the way for the Dons in a 41-30 win Spanish Fork and Uintah traded buckets early but it was the Dons who took the lead after one. Junior, Kelli Hales connected on 2 free throw attempts following a technical foul given to the head coach for the Utes, putting the Dons up 13-10. It was the same thing in the 2nd quarter with neither team pulling away but in the end it was the Lady Dons taking a 5 point lead going into the half. Spanish Fork came out strong in the 3rd with a few buckets from Senior, Jen Huntsman and a 3 from Jessica Cable gave them their biggest lead of the game at 29-20 going into the final quarter. With the Dons up 30-24 midway through the 4th quarter Cable came up huge with a 3 pointer and a lay up, with the foul, stretching the lead into double digits putting the game away for the Lady Dons Jen Huntsman had a big game with 8 points, 6 rebounds and Kelli Hales added 6 points of her own.
