Spanish Fork FFA finished a great year with the school garden program. This was our second year selling produce at the Spanish Fork Farmers Market. In total 7 students worked throughout the summer in the garden here at the school, taking care of the plants, harvesting, and selling produce. This year we grew 250 tomato plants, 75 pepper plants, 30 melon plants, and various squash plants. Our harvest was great this year, in total we harvested over 3,150 pounds of tomatoes, 50 melons, and countless squash and peppers! In total the garden sold nearly $2000 of produce at the Spanish Fork Farmers Market! Students were also able to bring produce from their home gardens, and sold over $500 of produce grown at their homes. Students learned many skills from plant care, disease and pest control, and marketing.
