*This is NOT intended for students participating in at-school learning*

Dear Students/Parents/Guardians,

The best way to order school lunch and/or breakfast for students who are not at school is to fill out a survey each day for each student.  This includes kindergarten and preschool students as well as remote learning students of all grades.   You will need to order before 9 a.m. each morning. Meals are only provided on scheduled school days. For special circumstances, you can still call the school to place your order.

This would also be the method of ordering breakfast and lunch if your student is required to stay home for quarantine or for other COVID-19 related schedule adjustments or closures.

To place your order, please fill out the form on this Link

By way of reminder, meals can be picked up in the front office between 10:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. each morning.

We hope this makes the process easier for all involved. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

SFHS Administration

Estimados padres:

Atentamente,

SFHS Administration

Counselors Attend SUU Conference!

A couple of our counselors were able to attend the annual SUU "Counselor Days" Conference this past weekend to learn of the new and upcoming things happening at SUU.  Southern Utah University is taking great strides to create a close-knit college feel, while still offering big University opportunities.  One of the biggest changes SUU has recently implemented is their Scholarship Index.  They have initiated a new scholarship index where the test score is optional for scholarship consideration.  Upon a student applying, the University will take the student's GPA or ACT/SAT score (whichever one better benefits the student). They have also provided an appeal process in which any individual student who feels that based on their school workload can appeal for a higher tiered scholarship. The University is really wanting to take into account course rigor and is therefore providing this appeal process.  SUU has worked tirelessly to still offer fun on-campus activities while abiding by CDC safe guidelines.  For students interested in attending SUU, they will still be offering student life experiences (such as their Red Riot).  Please see the attached image for Red Riot Dates which will allow students to enjoy a campus tour, a T-shirt and a night in student housing.  If your student has any further questions in regards to SUU, have them visit with their counselor!

College/Scholarship Awareness for Seniors

Please read this very insightful message from our awesome counselors!     We encourage all Senior Students to look closely at the institution they are considering to attend after high school as Academic Scholarship requirements have drastically changed on account of Covid-19. For example, instead of a scholarship matrix consisting of both a GPA and an ACT Score, some colleges are only requiring one or the other. However, because this will make Academic Scholarships more attainable in some cases, some institutions will be capping the amount of Presidential Academic Scholarships that will be awarded.  Therefore, it is imperative that students apply to colleges early so they don't miss out on financial opportunities.      Remember that it does not hurt to apply to multiple colleges, even if your student is not sure where they want to attend.  If students want assistance with applying for colleges, our Utah College Application Week will be the week of October 5th.  This is a time where College Reps will come and help students with any questions they have with the application process, and some colleges also waive their application fee at this time.  Again, we recommend checking the colleges you might be interested in to know what the academic scholarship requirements are, when the deadline is, as well as if there is a cap on the amount of scholarships they will be awarding.  Please see your counselor with any questions.
