Week 12 Teacher Of The Week is our awesome History and Psychology teacher Melissa Hartley. Ms. Hartley was nominated because “Hartley always makes me laugh. No matter how hard the truth is, she is going to give it to you straight, but love you at the same time. You can feel it, and I love her for that.” Thank you Ms. Hartley for being such a rock star at SFHS!
Week 11 Teacher of the Week is our Special Education teacher and Girls Basketball Coach Alyssa Larsen, or Coach A. Coach A was nominated because, “I vote Coach A for teacher of the week! Every day teachers and staff members are looking for students who are doing positive things. They identify students by filling out a Rock Solid form outlining what the student did. Each Friday we draw several names to recognize students for their Rock Solid behavior. The scope of student excellence ranges from helping other students or teachers and general kindness to academic success. On Fridays, student winners for the week are notified, we take their picture, give them a treat, and tell them which teacher nominated them and why. Then their form hangs in the counseling center throughout the term and goes back into a bigger drawing for gift cards and bigger prizes. The first term winner won Airpods! It has been fun to see student reactions through term one and two. We look forward to recognizing all of our Rock Solid Dons throughout the year.
Twenty members of our Business Leaders of Tomorrow club, consisting of FBLA and DECA members, were excited to act as Santa this week as they responded to Santa letters written by local Kindergarten students. Our club members were able to write over 120 letters while dining on doughnuts and hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. Thanks to everyone who made this service project a success!
