Our Counselors visited the University of Utah and were able to get in on all the up and coming things happening at the U! The University of Utah is a great school and is ranked in the Top 100 of all universities in the World! The U of U has refined their admission process from the former "admissions index criteria" to a new, "holistic approach." They now consider both academic preparation as well as personal achievements when determining who they will accept. The counselors were able to learn some helpful tips about filling out the application, so if you are planning to apply- go see the counselors! Two things you will want to be certain to do if you are planning on going to the U are as follows: make sure you apply by December 1st and make sure to send your ACT scores directly to the University! The counselors are unable to send your scores; you need to send them from, or list them as one of the schools to have your scores sent to when taking the ACT. If you have further questions go see the counselors. GO UTES!

This past weekend our counselors attended a conference down at Southern Utah University. They were able to learn about  the great amenities that SUU offers their students. One thing that was especially impressive, were the extreme measures SUU is taking to accommodate incoming Freshman. SUU holds new student orientations, and even assigns each student an "ACE" which is an "Assistant Coach for Excellence and Success." An ACE is essentially a peer mentor to help students in the big transition from High School to College. If you are interested in going to SUU, come see the counselors and ask about attending a "Red Riot," which is an overnight student life experience. The Counselors were also able to tour SUU's renowned Aviation Program. If you are considering a career as a fixed wing or helicopter pilot, SUU has a great program that the counselors would love to tell you more about!  An SUU representative will be attending our "College Day" on September 26th, and SUU will also be waiving their $50 Application Fee during our "College Week" which is November 6th-November 10th. GO THUNDERBIRDS!
